DLP Reflection Week 4: A Little Under the Weather
Well, this has been a rough week! Why is it ALWAYS so hard to come back from an extended weekend!?!? It's not like we don't know that the day is coming when we have to go back to work. On top of that, I've felt a bit under the weather this week. I do expect to make a full recover and return to my video blogging soon.
Last week, I talked about my need to be a better manager of my time. This week, I decided to do two things more diligently. One, carry my schedule EVERYWHERE! Two, when ever I begin the next task on my schedule, I set my timer on my phone for the time I have allotted on my paper schedule. Whether it's working with teachers during their planning, observing, or working on other DLP things, I set my timer. I have to say that together, both of these changes helped me to stick to my schedule and my time much better this week. So, I think I will keep it up.
This week, I want to work on goal setting for myself. I already know what I want my goal to be for next week. I am a user of pen and paper for note taking (I'm pretty sure there's a support group for that). I know there are all sorts of apps and programs that I can use online to do the same thing, but something about seeing my own handwriting just makes me excited! I have always been this way (I totally inherited it from my mom)! The down side to being a pen and paper user for note taking or observations with teachers is that I have to go back later and put all the information on some kind of online form. Which takes up time I do not have. My goal for next week is to carry my computer around with me more and to use Google Keep for note taking (using Google Keep to make my weekend to do list as we speak) and typing teacher observation info on the form as I am observing, instead of on paper to have to type later.
Wish me luck!

Yay, I'm so happy to hear you will use Google Keep a little more for some of your tasks. Goal setting is a great way to make sure you are also growing. Did you know there is a goal setting feature in Google Calendar App??? When you click the plus sign in the app you can set your goals and it will find times you have available and suggest when you should work on it. It's super cool! Also on the app if you choose schedule you'll get the "agenda" view like on the computer version. If you like the computer version you can even print an agenda view if you like to have a paper copy of the day's tasks. Let me know how those suggestions go as you begin observing teachers and having your followup meetings.
